Yeah. The problem is, is that we get into a kind of "all or nothing" debate within the profession. If we fight against the book-brand we end up being labelled as book haters. It's an uphill battle, that's for sure.
Is it any wonder that our profession continues to struggle under the stereotype? How about OCLC's study and subsequent assertion that because the world identifies libraries with the "book" that this is the brand that we should continue to use as a symbol for what we do....ugh.
I watched that Information R/evolution and was really captivated by the message and the very sexy presentation. I promise, I shall pass it along as it stimulates some very timely questions about what it is we do in this era. I think your VPL administrators need to have a look at too! What meaning does a book have for people who have been raised in a culture of mash-ups?
